UGA Opera Theatre is thrilled to welcome guest artist Vincent Liotta as Stage Director for Mozart's masterpiece, Don Giovanni.
Vincent Liotta is Professor Emeritus of Opera at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. He is also a noted educator having twice been a Fulbright Senior Fellow as well as having taught and stage directed at universities and conservatories in Romania, Italy, Korea and Australia. Professional credits include productions at Chicago Lyric Opera, San Francisco Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Canadian Opera, Teatro Colon, Vienna Staatsoper, Santa Fe Opera, and Los Angeles Music Center; as well as being the co-founder of the Utah Festival Opera. Liotta's repertory spans over 100 productions ranging from early opera to the modern musical comedy. He created the world premiere productions of Our Town (Rorem), Vincent (Rands), The Tale of Lady Thi Kihn (Phan), Coyote Tales (Mollicone), and Too Many Sopranos (Penhorwood). He is the author of new libretti for The Merry Widow, Naughty Marietta, and Arlecchino (Salieri) as well as an original musical biography of Giuseppe Verdi, Viva Verdi.
